COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,508 new cases, 31 deaths in 24 hours

Pakistan on Thursday has reported 1,508 new cases and 31 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country’s nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 44,173 coronavirus tests were taken, 1,508 new confirmed cases were registered, and 31 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 1,971 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country.

With these latest statistics, the country’s total number of confirmed cases stands at 550,540. Pakistan has so far recorded 11,833 coronavirus related deaths, and a total of 505,818 patients have recovered from the novel disease.

The country has so far conducted 80,85,427 coronavirus tests.

PM Imran launches first COVD-19 vaccine drive:

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday launched vaccination against the deadly coronavirus, initially for health workers, and urged the people to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to stop its spread.

After witnessing the administration of Covid-19 vaccine to health workers here, the prime minister said in the first phase, health workers, who were on the front-line in the fight against coronavirus, as well as those vulnerable due to age, would be vaccinated.

He appreciated China for providing 0.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to Pakistan. which, he assured, would be judiciously distributed across all the provinces.
